What is healthy friendship/relationship? Now I wouldn't start by giving dictionary definitions or introducing extensive vocabulary. The post on true friendship resonates significantly with this post. However, opposite of these relationships can be termed 'dysfunctional'.

Where do Toxic Relationships Fall?

There's no room for toxicity in good health, they are mutually exclusive. It's been said that real love cannot happen in toxic relationships, therefore progression into love is somewhat impossible. At the initial stage of love, obsession may come in; now subsequently even during toxicity there's no love but obsession.

7 Signs of Unhealthy Friendships (What You Should Do)

  • Co-dependency: I call this parasitic since one gives, the other only takes- get out.

  • Dishonesty: If the relationship is full of lies- red flag, leave.

  • Control: When one is trying to dominate- run away.

  • Avoidance: Always avoiding conversations or brewed issues- disappear.

  • Abuse: A million red flags in one- reach out and run.

  • Envy/Jealousy: Feels intimidated or unhappy about your achievements- walk away.

  • Stealing: If a friend or partner steals from you- address it. But if no change- pack and go.

Your Wellness Matters

The effects of unhealthy friendships can be tremendously detrimental, physically, emotionally and psychologically. You should love yourself, there are people who love you also.

7 Effects of Unhealthy Relationships

Everyone is prone to these effects but teenagers are more likely to fall victim, I guess that's where maturity comes to play. What are these effects?

  • Mental breakdowns
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Suicide attempts
  • Violence/Physical fighting
  • Paranoia
  • Heartbreak

It could lead to toxic relationships due to trauma or unpleasant memories of past relationships.
